For youths between the ages of 10 and 14, the Navy League Cadet Corps (the junior organization to the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps) is an organization that teaches members about the United States Navy, and the United States military structure, and gives them grounding in Teamwork, Leadership, and Self-Discipline.  The Cadet Training Ship ARTHUR BEAUMONT - in existance since 1980 - has trained mulititudes of young people for later life in both the military and civilian fields.

Cadets wear the Navy Uniform and are subject to U.S. Naval discipline and military-style training.  Cadets also participate in Community Service activities and public parades.  The U.S. Navy provides training facilities and other support such as the Week-Long Summer Boot Camp, Flagship Competition, and the Navy League Olympics.

The primary role of CTS ARTHUR BEAUMONT is to train cadets in order to prepare them for either High School ROTC, or to continue on in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (for youths between the ages of 13 and 18).  CTS ARTHUR BEAUMONT is the feeder unit for LONG BEACH DIVISION, the local Sea Cadet unit (When cadets reach their thirteenth birthday, they can choose to move up to the Sea Cadets.  When they reach 14, they must either transfer to the Sea Cadets, or leave the program).

CTS ARTHUR BEAUMONT meets two saturdays a month (usually every first and third saturday) from 0900 (9 am) to 1500 (3 pm).  Meeting locations are (first Saturday) The U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Center, Navy Way, Terminal Island, and (third saturday) United States Coast Guard Base San Pedro.

CTS ARTHUR BEAUMONT is part of the Pacific South-West Region 11 of the USNSCC, the largest Sea Cadet region in the United States.  Constant participation in Region Activities has given CTS ARTHUR BEAUMONT a proud record of acheivement.
